Tanu Weds Manus Return is an Indian comedy-drama film directed by Anurag Basnet and written by Jaideep Sahni. It stars Kangana Ranaut and R. Madhavan in the lead roles with Jimmy Sheirgill playing the love interest of both of them. The film is a sequel to the 2011 film Tanu Weds Manu. Principal photography began in February 2016 and ended in April 2016. The film released worldwide on 7 May 2016, and received critical acclaim from critics as well as audience. The story revolves around Raja Krishnakumar Varma (R. Madhavan), whose marriage with Tanuja Parashar (Kangana Ranaut) was arranged by their fathers. However, the couple clashed over various issues and decided to end their relationship after a brief two months of marriage. They simultaneously announced their divorces without informing each other first which created a huge media frenzy and a lot of backlashes from society at large. Ten years later, Tanuja has become a successful shoe designer and is now living with her best friend Zoya (Vidya Balan); however, she is still haunted by the memory of her divorce. One evening, Tanuja decides to reunite with Krishnakumar Varma for a drink; they immediately realize that there is still chemistry between them and decide to get married again. At the same time, Zoya discovers that she is pregnant and begins searching for a man to be her husband; at this point, Krishnakumar Varma decides to start looking for Tanuja's "other" life partner; his search soon leads him back to his first marriage which had been terminated way back. The soundtrack was released on 31 March 2016. The film has seven songs composed by Bhardwaj, with lyrics penned by Jaideep Sahni. The music rights are bought by T-Series. The trailers of the film were released on 29 February 2016 on YouTube and the official website of the film. The first poster of the film was launched on 25 January 2016 at a function in Mumbai along with another all-woman team "Balaji's dance sequence".
